Sometimes SELF-LOVE Looks Like This…

Are you going to run & hide?
Or are you going to grow?

When we are confronted with a challenge – we have a choice.

We can choose to run and hide and attempt to escape our problem. Out of fear for what we might feel or how difficult it might be to navigate the challenge. This is acting from, guess where… FEAR.

At first fear may feel like the easier road. But in reality it just means we are running from our pain, problems etc. and these things we attempt to avoid will keep coming up. Until we confront them, accept our circumstances and move through. Which sometimes can feel like trudging through sludge.

But this is the path of growth … of LOVE. Which may at first feel more difficult. Especially if we are used to acting from a fear place.

When we choose the path of growth each time we experience contrast (conflict, challenges, problems etc.) it gets easier. Yes it can seem to be more work. The work is so worth it.

The work my dears … is actually self-love. The work is asking ourselves the tough questions and really truly searching within for how we can grow.

This is love.

Not avoiding, running, hiding.
But facing head-on.
Being brave to accept the current situation no matter how challenging it may seem.

This is love my darlings.

Sending you all the love and light in the world,

MC

Set Your Intentions! Workshops – this weekend!

If you are like most of us, you have at least given a few minutes of consideration to setting goals and resolutions for the new year. AND if you are like most of us, these resolutions fade fast. So … how do we hold to these resolutions? How do we treat them as our “north stars”, allowing them to guide us through a process of growth and change?

If you happen to be in the Fairfield County area this weekend, I will be co-teaching an intention-setting workshop twice with Sophie Slater. The first will be at M3 Yoga in Westport on Saturday 2-4pm and then again on Sunday 3-5pm at A New Earth Yoga in Easton, CT.

To Register:

…for the m3 workshop email merri@m3yogawestport.com.

We hope to see you there!

Meditation Confession…

In attempting to Walk the Talk a bit more as a health coach and yoga instructor, I signed up for the Oprah & Deepak 21-Day Meditation Challenge.

I have got to be totally honest with you: these things always seemed super corny and contrived to me. Why would I sign up for something like that when I’ve already got all the tools I need? I know damn well how to set myself up for meditation.

Well, I realized that I needed a little help. A little kick in the butt if you will. The 21-Day Challenge has been just the kick I needed. While I have missed 2 days thus far (I make them up by doing 2 a days) I can honestly say that this is a commitment I needed to make. Strange as it may sound, it has been more difficult to build a regular meditation practice than it was to train for Ironman. Maybe it’s because meditation encourages you to be silent, still, and totally unplug from your computer, phone, music, TV for a mere 20 minutes. And sometimes, the bad stuff comes up.

But it is always, ALWAYS worth it. As I said, I’m only about 10 days into this daily meditation thing but I have to say that when I wrap up I feel more focused and ready to take on my day.

If you are interested in building a daily meditation or yoga practice, post your comments below or contact me directly. I am more than happy to help you find an online program and share more information with you on a very exciting project my friend Sophie and I are launching in time for the new year!

Meditation is the only time when bossy-pants Milo will ever calm down enough to sit in my lap which is an added perk.
